Hi.
I'm a Canadian Linux/BSD hobbyist whose employment has nothing to do with the IT industry. I work in the insurance business, and also teach at a western Canadian business school part-time.
I've been using computers since 1982 and owned one since 1984. I started with Commodore 64s, worked my way through the Amigas, and eventually found my way to Windows and open source operating systems.
I tend to like really interesting computer hardware and currently have running:
- 486dx2-50 with 32 MB of RAM (running Debian Linux)
- VAXstation 4000/60 with 104 MB of RAM (running OpenBSD)
- Sun SPARCstation 10 with dual Ross 90 MHz CPUs and 256 MB RAM (running NetBSD)
- Sun SPARCstation 20 with dual Ross 180 MHz CPUs and 512 MB RAM (running NetBSD)
- Sun Ultra 1 with 167 MHz UltraSPARC CPU and 1 GB RAM (running Gentoo Linux)
- Alix 2D3 with 500 MHz AMD Geode CPU and 256 MB RAM (running Debian Linux and acting as my router)
- Sheevaplug with 512 MB RAM (running Debian Linux and acting as my offsite server backup computer)
and last, but not least,
- Raspberry Pi with 256 MB RAM (running Raspbian Linux)
I also still have a C64, C128, VIC-20 and Amiga 500 kicking around.
